Where love and learning come together

Program

What we offer

We build on holistic Montessori pedagogy and a classroom in direct contact with the forest. We guide children towards responsibility, cooperation and intrinsic motivation.

  • Learning in context: we connect the curriculum into wholes following Maria Montessori's Great Stories (science, history, geography, language, mathematics), not into isolated 45-minute lessons.
  • The forest as a classroom: regular field research and nature observation.
  • English as a tool: it is taught by an instructor and the children prepare their own projects in it.
  • Independence: children plan their time, work on their own and shared projects and assess their own progress, without memorising and comparison.
  • Community: a small mixed-age group where we learn to cooperate, discuss and resolve conflicts in a non-competitive environment.
  • Team: the guides are mentors and partners for the children.

How we learn here

Learning that makes sense

Project-based and experiential learning

Projects connect mathematics, language, history, biology and art. Children work with Montessori materials and look for solutions to real problems. The school follows the state educational program, with examinations twice a year.

Mixed-age group

Younger children learn by watching older ones. Older children consolidate their knowledge by helping younger ones and develop empathy and responsibility. Original Montessori materials let them learn through experience and correct a mistake themselves straight away.

The forest and nature as a living classroom

The forest and surroundings are our everyday laboratory. Children explore the laws of nature, follow the seasons and care for plants, animals and the environment.

Individual approach and a safe environment

Every child has their own pace, talents and interests. With us, a mistake is not a reason for fear or punishment but an opportunity to grow. We motivate without pressure or comparison.

English from year 1 and Jolly Phonics

We teach English from the first year using the experiential Jolly Phonics method. Rich sensory material engages hearing, sight and movement.

A lively community with parents

We meet at creative workshops, barbecues and evenings by the fire. We also organise community weekends for families.

Our values

Our group's manifesto

  • We teach children how to learn. So that they know what they want and have the tools to achieve it. We give them tools that will help them keep growing and find their direction in life.
  • With us, children get to know their personality and their talents. They learn the limits of their abilities and discover that they can push them themselves.
  • Our goal is for our pupils to be self-confident in any situation they may find themselves in. To always be able to find a way out because they can connect information creatively and thoughtfully.
  • We teach our students to reason and evaluate information. We guide them towards mutual respect and rules, but also towards critical thinking and research. We support their curiosity.
  • We guide our pupils so that later, as adults, they will have their lives in their own hands.
  • We support the development of their healthy self-esteem, creativity and communication skills. At the same time we guide them towards responsibility for themselves and the world they live in, and towards respect for others.
  • We teach them to know the roots of our culture and the historical context of the present. We show them the world in all its diversity – so that they know we are all, the whole world, in one boat that we must look after together.
  • Our wish is for our pupils to grow into people who are aware of their abilities and their worth – and who can talk to anyone as an equal. Without fear and without condescension.
  • We develop their sense of beauty. We teach them to appreciate music and art, and we nurture their creativity and imagination.

Reviews

Our parents' experiences

I like that the school offers rich stimuli for children's development; the Friday expeditions are TOP. At the same time the school respects individuality, and the teachers notice children's talents and character. It's also great that children get verbal assessments instead of grades. My son always looks forward to school and has no stress about it.

Our daughter is very happy here and looks forward to school every day. A respectful and stimulating environment where she can progress at her own pace, develop her talent and learn new things at the same time… Very satisfied!

Montessori pod lesom is a truly great place for children. A pleasant environment where children can grow, learn and discover new things at their own pace. Being close to the forest adds charm and is great for outdoor activities.

After carefully gathering references and information about different educational options, we decided to pay extra for our son's education according to our ideas and to travel a bit for it too. Since we don't emphasise cramming and piling up knowledge without context, we don't care much for grades; instead we attach great importance to the personality and enthusiasm of the accompanying teachers, to original materials that lead to discovering answers independently, and to a friendly, creative environment in which it is a joy to work. So we chose the path of learning at this beautiful, family-like school by the forest, where children are taught by exceptional teachers with big hearts and many years of experience in Montessori education. Thank you!

About us

Our story

Klára Kulichová
“The aim of education and wisdom is for a person to see the clear path of life before them, to walk it carefully, to remember the past, know the present and foresee the future.”John Amos Comenius

Behind Montessori pod lesom is Klára Kulichová, the founder of Alma Ludico.

Since 2013, together with my team of instructors, I have had the opportunity to accompany more than 3,000 children, from tiny babies to little big ones who left us to go out into the world. From the beginning we knew we wanted to accompany them on their further journey of learning too.

For me, Montessori pedagogy is an approach that exactly matches how I see the role of both parent and teacher. This respectful approach has grown close to our hearts and we pass it on to our own children, to the children in the Alma Ludico program and to the children in our nursery, kindergarten and school.

For me, Montessori pod lesom is a dream come true and another step on the way to quality education led by the heart.
